Hi Loriel, I was reading your blog and wondered if no one ever mentioned doTerra Essential Oils to you? I was curious as there are so many advantages to using these high grade oils. Would love to hear from you.
    Aloha,
    Roberta

Hi Roberta. Even if no one had mentioned doTerra EO’s to me, it’s hard not to know of them and Young Living because of all the bloggers that have jumped on the EO bandwagon to make money. Sure, many believe in the healing properties and I truly believe EO’s heal. *However* EO’s are being used and abused and I’d rather invest in EO’s from companies who are not MLM. I appreciate it, though! Blessings.

        Hi Loriel,

I’m so sorry your baby has such horrible reactions to mosquito bites :(. My daughter seems to be the target in our family. I do use YL oils because of their unadulterated therapeutic grade (not trying to sell to you). I want to tell you about Purification Essential Oil – it is awesome! I make a spray with 5 drops, Epsom salt, and water. It is a great mosquito repellent – get them before they get our babies! I’ve made some just to give away :). Love to help, especially little kiddos. I have a two year old and 13 yr old who has down syndrome – she’s the mosquito magnet. There have been a few times where they get her at night (would wake up with 2-3 bites), so I got smart, I took a drop and rubbed it all over her before bedtime and I sat in another room while on the computer. I kid you not, they did not get her, they buzzed around me and of course I pounded on them :)! I can’t tell you how much I love my oils!!! I use lavender as we’ll, especially on burns. Hope your little man is doing well!

I would be very interested in the oil for mosquitoes, as I have grand son who gets bits so bad.

Hi, I really enjoy your website. I find your latest installments about what you and your family ate for the week very informative AND most of all comforting as a working mother of 4. My husband and I would love nothing more than to have a sit down family dinner each day with the 6 of us but my oldest (daughter) is 16, and the other 3 boys ages 13, 12, and 6 all play hockey. Our schedules are crazy and our meals look similar to yours. I am by far a “grazer” and definitely prefer a plant based diet. I am trying to “clean up” our diets as much as possible but as my kids are older, they are used to what they have had for all of their childhood. I try to explain the “reasons” why I don’t buy the things I always used to buy (processed things), and they mostly are ok with it. I/we are doing it “baby step” style- LOL. I remember reading a post about you visiting Buffalo to see your sister- my entire family and my husbands family is from Buffalo too! Born and raised!!!!
I do have one question- any suggestions regarding canker sores? My 6 year old mysteriously gets them all of the time. Sometimes it coincides with another illness like a cold or something and sometimes its just canker sores. He doesn’t put hands or anything in his mouth either….

I am so incredibly happy to hear that you have found my weekly meals on the real comforting. That is exactly what I was going towards when I thought of the idea. I totally know how it is to feel guilty about not feeding your family what everyone considers “healthy” all the time and the reality is, we shouldn’t have to deal with that guilt. Seriously, we have enough guilt in our lives why add one more? It’s all about baby steps and doing the best that you can with what you have. My love and wishes go out to you and your family!

Hmmmm.. I’m not too familiar about the cold sores. I do know that you can put tea tree essential oil on the cold sores to help heal them. You can add a bit of a carrier oil (coconut, almond, etc) to the oil to dilute it as well.

Thank you for the well wishes…. I wasn’t referring to cold sores, but I was referring to canker sores…. the difference is cold sores on outside of mouth and crust over- which my son never has had. Canker sores are on the inside of mouth- usually, well his are always on inside of his lip. They begin as little red ulcerations and as they get a little bigger they appear to have a whitish center…. So sore for my little monkey. I wasn’t sure if you had any experience with treating them or of knowing any dietary concerns related to them. When I asked our pediatrician AND dentist, they both kind of shrugged it off and said it’s a virus like catching a cold. They said it is sometimes a precursor to a cold or another virus. I on the other hand always tend to search for the “alternative” reasons as I believe the body is a whole and all is conected and related ( I am an RN as well). Thank you!

Hi, my name is Karina and I would like to know if you know of an remedies for gallstones? I wouldn’t like to go through surgery and am looking for alternative options. Thank you.
