The first three years of Andrew’s life I never imagined wanting another child. I was convinced he was going to be an only child because of how hard parenting was.
Then, a couple months before his third birthday (last year) something happened and Scott and I decided we wanted to have a younger sibling for Andrew.
The first month we tried, I was almost convinced we were pregnant but then sadly, Aunt Flow arrived. We tried again, and again, and again. It was beginning to upset me; I couldn’t understand why at 24 years old and eating the best I have ever ate, I was having such a hard time getting pregnant! Scott and I decided we were just going to stop trying and when it was supposed to happen, it would happen.
9 months later, when I was suffering from a sinus infection, double ear infection, and was on antibiotics for the first time in years, (read that fun story here) Aunt Flow didn’t come when she was supposed to.
Whhhattt???? Am I pregnant or are all the antibiotics messing me up?
For the first time in 9 months I did not want to pregnant. Not when I had been taking ibuprofen every 4 hours and was on antibiotics.
But then I grew impatient, took a test, and then….
Just like that, we were hatching our favorite chick yet!
Of course I’d get pregnant while miserably sick but let me tell you what, this baby could not have come at a better time! We were experiencing a lot of family illness and we needed a ray of sunshine in our lives; this little blessing was our ray of sun. I love how the Universe brings things into your life at the most perfect time.
We’re so excited! I’m especially excited to be able to go through this pregnancy in the most natural way possible and I’m even more excited to share our experiences along the way!
And don’t you just love the announcement? I was struggling with how to announce this baby in the cutest way possible. My little sister was in town for two weeks and after bouncing ideas back and forth with her, we decided to play on the fact that I am now dubbed “The Crazy Chicken Lady.” Speaking of crazy chicken lady, if you think you might qualify to this awesome status, you’ll want to read this post.
She took these photos and I am so happy with the way they turned out. Sometimes it’s hard for a photographer to get their photos taken by someone else when they have a vision in their mind. But I guess that’s what is so powerful about a sister’s connection, they know just what you’re thinking!
And I’m so excited Andrew will have a sibling in T-minus 6 months! Will you join us in celebrating this most beautiful blessing?
